Wetlands and Wings Application Available Now!

The Fall Wetlands and Wings youth workshop and hunt will now be an upland bird activity, due to continued drought conditions and lack of water and birds on Stillwater NWR.  The activity will be two 1/2 days, held in October 25 and 26 in Fallon.

Day1: Gun safety, trap shooting clinic at Fallon Trap Club, 11am - 3pm
Day 2: upland bird workshop and mentored hunt, 9am - 3pm

FREE for both days!

The application for both the Fall 2014 and/or Spring 2015 youth outdoor workshops and hunts can be used for both (even though it says waterfowl).
Fill out and return by email, mail, or to the office in Fallon. These amazing opportunities are open to youth ages 10-17yrs. Since we are on a private bird club, youth do NOT need a state hunting license.

See applications for more details.

A BBQ to Say 'Thanks'! - Sunday, June 22

Friends of Stillwater NWR is hosting a BBQ on Sunday June 22 1pm, at Laura Mills Park in Fallon (at the end of Tedford off Williams Ave),  Burgers (beef, veggie), hot dogs, all the fixings, sides and dessert, and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided (or BYOB).

This is our way of thanking and recognizing Friends Board of Directors and members past and present, for their generous support and contributions that helped make the Spring Wings Festival and Wetlands & Wings programs a success.  We need your involvement again as we move forward to better serve the Stillwater refuge and Lahontan Valley wetlands with new outreach, education and events.

Family members are welcome to the BBQ, but we need to know how many will be attending, for planning.  Please RSVP by June 18 to: [email protected], or call 423-5128 ext. 224.

Here's to many more years of outdoor fun and education with the Friends of Stillwater NWR!
