Spring Wings Fest 2014 Details

Good News Fellow Birders!

We hope to open registration for this year's festival by February 28. In the meantime, we have a few more details concerning this year's festival.

We plan to offer a FREE Wood Duck Nest Box Workshop on Friday afternoon. During this time, families will be able to build their own nest box while learning about the program. They will also enjoy the opportunity to watch an air cannon trapping demo at the Churchill County Fairgrounds!

On Friday evening, the Lady Falconers will be presenting Amazing Birds of Prey.

As far as new tours and events this year...we are pleased to announce Vultures of the Valley presented by NDOW Nongame Biologist Jenni Jeffers. This presentation will take place Saturday afternoon and will highlight migrating turkey vultures.
We are also pleased to announce the Historic Fallon Tour led by horse-drawn wagon! Participants on this low-impact tour will enjoy learning about the history of the area along with viewings of the area spring migrants hiding out along the way.

Some old favorites we're pleased to offer once again are the Wood Duck Study Tour on Saturday along the Carson River as well as Meander the Marsh. This year, the float tours will take place on the private Canvasback Duck Club! We plan to offer two tours--one early Saturday morning along with a sunset float on Saturday evening. We're really excited about these two tours. They typically sell out quickly, so don't delay in reserving your spots. We also plan to offer the Carson Lake Shorebird Tour Saturday afternoon.

One Saturday afternoon, Cabelas will be giving an expanded optics workshop. The PBS Nature program will also be showing an Orignal Duck-u-mentary family movie. Kids wild crafts and outdoor projects will also be available for people of all ages to enjoy.

It's going to be a great year! We can't wait! Stay informed at www.springwings.org
